2018 UTME: JAMB gives latest about results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged its 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to patiently await the results of the just concluded examinations.

The Head of Media of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the board was working diligently to ensure that the results are processed and posted on the board’s website soonest.

Benjamin said that modalities were being put in place to ensure all the results are transparent and accurate.

He reiterated that the board was delaying some of the results because each has to undergo total scrutiny before being posted on its website to avoid cancellations later.

According to him, some of the results would be ready by Monday, March 19.

He also assured that all technical difficulties encountered to access the website were being addressed.

NAN reports that number of candidates, who sat for the examinations earlier, were yet to receive their results.

While some said that they received the reply of “your results are not ready yet”, others complained that the site says “you did not register for this examinations.’’

NAN also reports that the examination, which was scheduled to end on Saturday, March 17, ended on Friday, March 16.

UNILORIN don makes research breakthrough on aviation fuel

UNILORIN don makes research breakthrough on aviation fuel

A professor of Microbiology, University of Ilorin, Albert Olayemi, has made a scientific breakthrough in the microbiological analysis of aviation fuel and fuel handling systems. According to the University of Ilorin’s Bulletin issued on Monday, the research entitled: “Microbial Contamination of JetFuel and Fuel Handling Systems”, was commissioned and sponsored by CITA Petroleum Ltd., based in Lagos. aviation The publication explained that the breakthrough research would enhance the quality of fuel supply to the nation’s aviation sector. “The first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, Prof. Olayemi’s research was recently published on Amazon and is garnering intense critical acclaim in national and international media. “As a result of the research’s pioneering status and the potential to has a lasting impact on the global aviation industry. “The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has specially invited Prof. Olayemi to make a presentation at the forthcoming Aviation Systems Management Symposium, being hosted by IATA in Miami, Florida, U.S. between April 15 and April 20.’’ The publication explained that the study urged quality control agencies to intensify monitoring to enhance quality of supply to the aviation industry. It said that the research would help incorporate microbiological standards into the specification requirements of Jet A1/allied products. According to the bulletin, Microbial are micro-organisms like bacteria and fungi that are capable of existing in water where it interfaces with fuel. It said these microorganisms use alkanes and additives in fuel as foodstuff. According to it, the most destructive of the microbes that grows in the aircraft fuel environment is the fungus Hormoconis resinae. “This is the most common cause of microbial corrosion in aircraft fuel tanks,’’ it said. At the presentation of the study report, Olayemi commended the management of CITA Petroleum for compliance with the numerous industry and company’s proprietary Policies, Standards and Procedure (PSP) covering the entire supply storage and distribution chain. Olayemi, who lectures at the university’s Department of Microbiology, said contaminated fuel was one of the causes of equipment failure. He added that it was the second leading cause of plane crashes globally after pilot errors. The expert said the first of such study in Nigeria was aimed at assessing microbial contamination of aviation fuel and fuel handling system at CITA Petroleum Tank Farms located in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja.

JAMB official makes U-turn, about N36m swallowed by snake

Philomina Chieshe, the official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who claimed that the board’s N36 million was swallowed by a snake, has made a U-turn.

Chieshe, who works as a clerk at the JAMB office in Markurdi, Benue state, had told top officials of the examination body that a “mysterious snake” swallowed the money derived from the sale of JAMB scratch cards.

But when she appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), she confessed that the money was collected by one Samuel Umoru, her superior.

According to The Nation, the EFCC has interrogated Chieshe on several occasions since she made the ridiculous statement in February.

“The interesting aspect of the disclosure is that Chieshe’s statement (on snake swallowing the money) was obtained long before the snake and naira swallowing testimony became public knowledge,” an EFCC official was quoted as saying.

“In all her statements before the EFCC, there was no mention of any episode of any snake and the disappearance of monies in her care.”

“In a fact-sheet regarding the investigations, Chieshe was quoted to have said her superior — the coordinator at the Markurdi office — had asked her to withdraw the N36 million.”

According to the newspaper, the fact-sheet notes that “contrary to her claim before the leadership of the examination body that the N36 million proceeds from sale of scratch cards were eaten up by a snake, Chieshe told operatives of the anti-graft agency that the money was collected piecemeal from her by her coordinator, Mr. Samuel Sale Umoru.

“In one of the statements she volunteered to the EFCC, Chieshe, who is a clerk in the Makurdi office of JAMB, revealed that the coordinator usually asked her to withdraw proceeds of the sale of the scratch cards from her account in two new generation banks — ‘this money I withdrew, the coordinator used it for the office and some time for himself.”

It also quoted her as saying she had been warning Umoru “that it was improper to use the money for miscellaneous expenses in the office or for private purposes but he would not listen.”

The fact-sheet added that the coordinator did not deny the allegations and had been released on administrative bail.

It listed other JAMB officials being probed to include Tanko Labaran, who could not account for N23 million from sale of scratch cards at the Nasarawa office, and Yakubu Jakada who is yet to explain the whereabouts of N20 million e-facilities cards sold in Kano office.

The suspects are said to have been released on bail pending the conclusion of investigation.

Reprinting Of JAMB 2018 Exam Slip Via Email Has Officially Begun

We have confirmed that JAMB has started sending the main exam slips to 2018 UTME candidates via email.
Candidates are to log on to the email addresses they provided during UTME registration and check for a notification from JAMB. Ensure you check both Inbox and SPAM/JUNK folders.
Please note that not all Exam Slips have been sent, and this will go on in batches. If you have not yet received a mail from JAMB, be patient and keep checking your email address for the mail.

Once you receive the mail and confirm it contains your exam schedule for 2018 UTME, proceed to any Cyber Café to print it out.

Please print 2 Copies of the Exam Slip. You would be required to submit 1 of them at the Exam Centre. You can keep the other one for reference.

If you have NOT received an email from JAMB, do not panic. We expect JAMB to make provision for candidates who are unable to access their exam slip via email to print it from JAMB portal.

Once that is available, we will publish the full procedure for you to print your via JAMB Portal.

If you have printed yours, let us know in the comment section.
